This is the entry level course of the Certification Courses. Other levels are Paricaya, Shiksha and Kovida.  Weekly classes are conducted via Zoom over a period of 6 months. Exams are held in August and February of each year and Certificates issued by Samskrita Bharati India.

Pre-requisites: Knowledge of Devanagari Script for Samskritam. This can be achieved using any of the publicly available online Courses on the internet.

Topics Covered

1. सूक्ति: - Verses/Poems
2. व्याकरण: - Sanskrit Grammar -Present Tense, Past Tense, Future Tense, Imperative Mode, Pratyayas or Participles, Vibhakti, Overview of Lakara's. Basic Devanagari script (Aksharas, Vyanjanas & Samyuktaksharani reading only). 
3. व्यावहारिक शब्दाः - Vocabulary
4. प्रहेलिका - Riddle
5. सङ्ग्राह्यविषया: - Brief overview of Classical Literature
6.  कथा - Stories
7. संस्कृतव्यवहार: - Conversations
8. सुभाषितम् - Shloka that teaches value

Who can enrol ?
Anyone over the age of 15. Prior knowledge of reading and writing in Devanagari Script is assumed.

Mode of Teaching 
Online using a combination of Text Book and Slide Presentations. Classes are interactive with students participating in Exercises, Quiz etc.,

Course Materials
Main source of Course Materials is the prescribed Text Book that will be issued after Registration. This may be supplemented with Slideware.

Class Timings
Classes are held weekly. Some are held on Weeknights and Some on Weekends during the day. Refer to the Programs below for more information. All times are in Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) / Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) as applies to NSW, VIC and ACT. Other states have to apply their own time zone differences.
