SBA turns 5...

Samskrita Bharati Australia Inc. (ABN. 41 689 284 900 and ARBN 689 284 900) is a Not For Profit Association incorporated in the state of Victoria and run by Volunteer Karya Kartas both Management and Operations. We are part of Samskrita Bharati Global. SBA's purpose is to promote, preserve and practise Samskritam (Sanskrit) Language in Australia. We facilitate the study of Samskritam through classes, discussions and workshops both online and on site. We also promote the study of Samskritam through Indian Knowledge Systems, Bharatiya Shastras, Kavyas and Granthas on Bharatiya Fine Arts.

SBA was established in July 2021 by a group of Samskrita Premis from Melbourne and Sydney who are committed to the goals of Samskrita Bharati Global organisation. We are grateful that we had tremendous help from SB Singapore, SB Bengaluru and SB Delhi to kickstart our activities in Australia. This continues to this very day. Today we have grown into Australia's Premier Institution for learning Samskritam with over 15 Teachers qualified at BA Level equivalent, 700 Total Course Registrations and produced nearly 25 B.A Level equivalent qualified Graduates.

Our eco system has now extended to include SB USA, SB Canada, SB Indonesia. SBA Inc. is managed by a Team of Swayam Sevaks or Volunteers. Our Volunteers come from all walks of life. They are IT Professionals, Engineers, Doctors, Insurance Executives, School Teachers, CEO's etc., Many are actively employed whilst others are retired and semi-retired. All of us bring our Professional experience in running this institution.

SBA was incorporated in Victoria in 2025 and registered with ASIC to do business throughout Australia. It became a Registered Charity with ACNC in 2026.

August '26 Announcements

"September Shibiram Intake is now on...."

Our most popular Sambhashana Shibiram workshops are going to start from 31st August. We will be holding workshops for New South Wales/ACT, Victoria/SA/TAS and Queensland/WA/NT separately.

Students will learn how to converse in simple Samskritam in a matter of 10 Days. No Prior knowledge needed.
Youth & Adults can enroll but not Children below age of 15.

Mode of Teaching is Online or Online + Physical Classes using a combination of Text Book and Slide Presentations. Classes are interactive with students participating in Exercises, Quiz etc.,

Main source of Course Materials is Samskrita Bharati's Abhyasapustakam book. 

Classes are held over 10 Days. Refer to the Program Page for more information. 
All times are in Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) / Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) as applies to NSW, VIC and ACT. ​Other states need to apply their own time zone differences.

We request those who registered to make it a point to attend all classes as it would be less than effective otherwise.

The Course is practically Free with students paying only for the Book, Postage and admin. costs.

"Pravesha (Certificate L1) Intake is now on...."
Pravesha course for the September Term is now set to start from September 21st 2026. 

This is the entry level course of the Certification Courses. Other levels are Paricaya, Shiksha and Kovida.  Weekly classes are conducted via Zoom over a period of 6 months. Exams are held in August and February of each year and Certificates issued by Samskrita Bharati India.

Pre-requisites: Knowledge of Devanagari Script for Samskritam. This can be achieved using any of the publicly available online Courses on the internet.

Anyone above the age of 15 can enroll. Students who completed Shibiram are also encouraged to enroll as this will be a good follow-on course.

Mode of Teaching is Online using a combination of Text Book and Slide Presentations. Classes are interactive with students participating in Exercises, Quiz etc.,

Main source of Course Materials is the prescribed Text Book (Pravesha). Others are Supplementary books. You will receive the complete set by Australia Post after Registration. This may be supplemented with Slideware.

Online Classes are held once a weekl. Refer to the Program Page for more information. All times are in Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) / Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) as applies to NSW, VIC and ACT. Other states have to apply their own time zone differences.

Note: Classes are organised by Regions. A Student in one Region is not allowed to Register with another region e,g Melbourne residents cannot register for Sydney classes. If the class in your Region is not suitable, please send us a note using the "Contact Us" Form. If there are enough numbers we can organise additional classes but switching Regions is strictly not allowed.
